A protected marine area of exceptional biodiversity, the Saguenay—St. Lawrence Marine Park is one of the best places in the world to watch whales. Discover the natural and cultural riches surrounding this fascinating universe. In Bas-Saint-Laurent, you will have the chance to witness spectacular sunsets on the river, observe belugas, seals and seabirds, visit lighthouses and museums and go on excursions to on foot, by kayak or by boat. Set sail and explore the islands of the St. Lawrence!

To discover: Île aux Basques, Île aux Lièvres, Île Verte and Île du Pot à l ‘Eau-de-Vie. There you can observe birds and seals and learn more about the history of lighthouses. Ferry services also allow you to go to the North Shore to continue your exploration of the marine park.

When you see a whale, remember to keep a distance of 200 m, or 400 m from endangered species, such as belugas and blue whales .

Water activities in the marine park may also involve certain risks. Don’t underestimate water temperature, wind, tides and other changing weather conditions. Find out before you leave!
