Recognized as one of the wonders of Quebec and as one of the largest gardens in North America, the Jardins de Métis are a plant paradise on the banks of the St. Lawrence. Some 3,000 species and varieties of plants, including the famous Himalayan blue poppy, are spread across around fifteen gardens. In Villa Estevan, a permanent exhibition recounts the stays of the family of Elsie Reford, creator of the gardens from 1926 to 1958. Her involvement in politics and public debates led her to meet many personalities of the time. For the first time, new facets of this exceptional woman will be revealed to you through photographs, objects and testimonies.
