About
The Matuweskewin Art workshop-boutique welcomes and offers the know-how and traditions of Maliseet and First Nations artists and artisans who offer unique and original pieces. Located on the current reserve of the Maliseet community of Cacouna, the Denis-Launière house is the last vestige of the Maliseet presence in Bas-Saint-Laurent. Built in the 1890s, it is today the Maliseet interpretation center.
Matuweskewin is a word in the Maliseet-Passamaquoddy language which means “porcupine hunter”.
