Warm up in winter with activities and gourmet delights in the Basque region

Mélanie Paquet, fascinated by history, tells our own story with her inspiring pen.

Just because the temperature drops below zero doesn’t mean outdoor outings lose their appeal, quite the contrary!

Whether it’s to get some fresh air, get together or treat yourself, the Basques territory is full of treasures where you can recharge your batteries and revitalize, even in winter.

We never get tired of the National Trail.

Discovering natural sites outside the summer season allows you to observe nature in a different way. The trails are quieter, offering a unique chance to come across wild animals: birds, deer, hares, and more. The landscapes change with the seasons, and the Sentier national that runs along the Trois-Pistole and Sénescoupé rivers reveals a unique beauty in winter.

The scents of the forest, the contrasting hues and the higher water level transform each walk into a sensory immersion. The first snows add a magical touch, depositing a burst of frost on the surrounding nature. Need a breathtaking view? The cable-stayed footbridge or the Basques footbridge, in Notre-Dame-des-Neiges, will amaze you!

Celebrate with friends

Winter is also the perfect time to slow down and share warm moments with your loved ones, over a coffee, a craft beer, or a good meal. Here are  perfect places to celebrate, feast or simply get together with friends.

Saint-Jean-de-Dieu
Restaurant Le Gueuleton, with its varied menu and relaxed atmosphere, is ideal for a friendly meal.

Notre-Dame-des-Neiges
Restaurant Gourmandises Oreka offers healthy menus for lunch and dinner in a cozy atmosphere, with a lounge area and a library to enjoy a coffee or hot chocolate with family.

Trois-Pistoles

Restaurant Le Biarritz, which offers a menu inspired by local products, also offers a “bring your own wine” option for a tailor-made evening.
Café Grains de folie invites you to a festive bistro atmosphere, with a diverse menu and a well-stocked drinks menu.
L’Auberge du Cheval Noir offers delicious breakfasts during the weekends.
Don’t forget to visit their Facebook page to discover their holiday offers and festive events!

Treat yourself to enjoy moments at home

Winter is also the season for cocooning par excellence. After a great day of skiing or a hockey game at the rink, it’s hard to resist the pleasure of getting together by the fire, surrounded by loved ones. Why not take advantage of it to organize a fondue or raclette evening with local products?

La Fromagerie des Basques offers tasty fondues and cheeses that melt wonderfully. For its part, Boucherie Centre-Ville offers assortments of quality meats for warming meals: their homemade sausages and cold cuts will make your evening an unforgettable moment!
