Olivier Gingras, lover of terroir and wide open spaces, always looking for discoveries and experiences to share.

For local beer lovers like me, there’s nothing like a good microbrewery beer in good company, around the Christmas tree or a fireplace, to celebrate New Year’s Eve in style.

Here are a few Bas-Saint-Laurent microbreweries that are sure to please your taste buds this holiday season.

Le Caveau des Trois-Pistoles

Beers with progressive recipes, crafted mainly from local ingredients, come to life in Trois-Pistoles’ ancestral Caveau à patates.

Caveau à patates? Yes, the same one that gave its name to writer-dramatist Victor-Lévy Beaulieu’s, Caveau-Théâtre.

In this mythical place, rich in culture and heritage, beverages in both traditional and new-wave styles draw their names and inspiration from local stories and legends.

Le Secret des Dieux, Pohénégamook

Based in the village’s historic presbytery, this cozy resto-pub offers beers made from local ingredients, with flavors that are both accessible and well-balanced.

A must-stop just a stone’s throw from the U.S. border, it offers a wide variety of hoppy elixirs, to be enjoyed while eating on site with the family, or to take away.

Madawaska, Dégelis

Fresh winners of the Jeune Entreprise award at the Association des Microbrasseries du Québec recognition gala, this newcomer is making its mark by offering unique, tasty beers from the restaurant at Hôtel 1212 in Dégelis.

Pub Madawaska, an extension of the brewery and restaurant, has also opened on the shores of Lake Témiscouata in the summer. A small bistro with a hearty menu and great beers to sample!

Les fous brassant, Rivière-du-Loup

With its focus on local and organic ingredients, this Louperivois microbrewery stands out for its eco-responsible vocation and its involvement in the community.

In fact, it’s committed to donating $1 per tasting pallet to local organizations!

Tête d’Allumette, Saint-André-de-Kamouraska

A guarantee of quality in the region, this is the only microbrewery in Quebec to brew its beers over a wood fire.

Combining brewing traditions with more modern technologies, this rustic village brewery creates jewel-like beers with unique and refined aromatic profiles.

Stop by the boutique and pick up their famous Lutin 6-pack Christmas gift set on your way to your relatives! A mixed case of their latest creations that will leave no one indifferent!

Ras L’Bock, La Pocatière

Established in La Pocatière since 2019, this renowned brewery of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli opens its factory doors to you.

Of course, you’re welcome to drop in and pick up a small 4-pack of fresh beer, then get on with the festivities.

Ras l’Bock is all about affordable, well-crafted beers, whether it’s their classics in fun cans or their delicious special brews in bottles. A beer for every occasion!
