Olivier Gingras, lover of terroir and wide open spaces, always looking for discoveries and experiences to share.
The holiday season is a unique opportunity to surprise friends and family with a fine bottle of local spirits for the aperitif, dinner or even the evening. To satisfy every palate, the Bas-Saint-Laurent region is brimming with passionate producers of exceptional elixirs.
These warm and festive gatherings are the perfect opportunity to share them with our hosts and guests!
Distillerie Témiscouata, Auclair
Bringing together over forty local maple syrup producers, this local distillery offers a range of unique products based on our national jewel: the precious maple!
Their flagship products, proudly bearing Témiscouata on the label, include Acérum blanc, Acérum brun (bottled in oak barrels) and their Eau-De-Vie au foin d’odeur: Quebec’s first flavored maple spirit.
Nothing less!
Hydromellerie Saint-Paul-de-la-Croix
Here’s a meadery that creates sweet meads from its own natural honeys.
Three versions are available: Soleil (100% honey), La Coureuse des champs, flavored with berries, and Nectar, flavored with apples.
Fresh and easy to digest, the colorful liquid contained in these small long bottles is perfect for sharing as an aperitif, or as an accompaniment to a light meal.
Vignoble Amouraska, Saint-Alexandre-de-Kamouraska
This vineyard offers classic white and red wines, as well as fruit wines and creams (aronia, rhubarb, raspberry, pear, chokecherry, blackcurrant).
Fruity wines that go wonderfully well with seafood and light dishes! As for the crèmes, or fortified wines, they are perfect with a hearty dessert or a small piece of dark chocolate.
Hmmm…
Le Vieux moulin, vin de miel, Sainte-Flavie
A historic museum and artisan meadery, Le Vieux Moulin de Sainte-Flavie creates unique wines from local fruits and honeys.
Whether it’s sweet mead, dry mead, raspberry mead, blueberry mead, apple mead or divine nectar, their complex, well-balanced flavors make them the perfect accompaniment to baguette evenings, fine cheeses, rillettes and terrines.
And while you’re at the mill, take the time to visit the Musée de la Neufve-France upstairs! A unique collection of artifacts pays tribute to the history of New France and the First Nations.
Domaine Vallier Robert (Domaine ACER), Auclair
Combining the ancestral know-how of maple syrup production with that of wine maturation, this estate is the birthplace of maple-wine production.
The Acer blanc Prémices d’avril, comparable to a white wine (dry or semi-dry), is perfect with poultry, while the Acer doux Val ambré is a golden digestif that’s perfect with a slice of sugar pie or butterscotch.
Bottled Acer Sparkling Mousse des Bois is the perfect companion for a festive New Year’s Eve celebration!
and 3-2-1… 🍾
Cheers! 🥂
