Ready to discover myco? Forest Mushroom Month, myco deliacies, myco picking experiences, the Haut-Pays myco attraction network and the Kamouraska Forest Mushroom Festival, they are coming! Come and share our passion for forest mushrooms.

Myco; from the ancient Greek μύκης or mukês. Meaning “mushroom”.
Tourism; from the not-so-old English word “tour”, which means to visit other countries, to “tour”, to do “touring”.

Shake it all up and you get mycotourism, travelling while having experiences related to mycology!

It’s without pretension (well, maybe a little) that Kamouraska boasts of being Quebec’s mycotourism epicenter. Yes, the Kamouraska is mushroom addicted!

To find out all about mycological development in Kamouraska, visit Le Kamouraska mycologique. Then, to make sure you don’t miss a thing, follow the Le Kamouraska mycologique facebook page. Finally, check out the Mycotourisme et gastronomie page (our favorite) to plan your stay.

So, what kind of traveller is mycotourism for?

The gourmet tourist

Traveling and eating go hand in hand. In Kamouraska, some twenty restaurants, cafés, microbreweries and even vineyards offer forest mushrooms according to the season.

You’ll discover mushrooms in every sauce.

The outdoor tourist

If the forest mushroom is present on our plates, it is first and foremost in the forest and accompanies your hikes with its presence. For hikers, the Sentiers d’Ixworth offer mushroom interpretation panels along the main trail. Ferme fibres & compagnie, well known for its alpacas, also offers a forest trail that is ideal for wild and cultivated mushrooms. This trail is dotted with works inspired by mushrooms.

The experiential tourist

To get to the source, kneel in the moss and pick the Holy Grail of the forests accompanied by a jovial, experienced mentor (hi Jean!), contact “La Vie est Mush”.

Your guide will help you find your way, not only in the forest, but also among the various edible and poisonous varieties.

For autonomous mushroom pickers, the ZEC Chapais and the Pourvoirie des Trois Lacs are places where forest mushroom picking is included in the offer!

A little scoop: by autumn 2024, a network of myco attractions will be unveiled in the Haut-Pays de Kamouraska, including artworks, trails and other surprises.

The ubiquitous “which is everywhere at once”. You’re welcome for the new word.

Want to experience it all? Gastronomy, science, art, emotion and, above all, sharing your trip with other human beings? The solution is the Kamouraska Forest Mushroom Festival. It’s the ultimate event, and it’s right in the middle of Forest Mushroom Month.

Mushroom Month

Mushroom Month is a program of discovery activities, menus and boutiques highlighting forest mushrooms throughout the month of September.

More than 50 businesses invite you to enjoy unique experiences for a myco-focused holiday.

The Festival (September 20 to 22) is the summit of the forest mushroom world. It’s a gourmet event with a mushroom market, mycological delicacies and culinary workshops.

It’s also an event for learning, discovering and networking, with expert workshops and conferences. There’s also plenty of fun to be had during the day and evening, not forgetting the kids, who will be entertained throughout the festival.

Hope to see you there!

On that note, the editorial team is off to the forest to visit its chanterelle patches!
